Welcome to Biobank Ireland’s website. The website is for everyone, and we welcome international visitors. You can learn about how frozen cent-size samples of donated human tissue or blood with privacy- and confidentiality-protected patient data are the basis for state of the art molecular research (See What is a Biobank?). This may lead to a better understanding of cancer and further investigations to devise much improved treatment. We will feature the many facets of biobanking, and details of the proposed biobank network which we strongly believe is “the way to go”. We will also present important research findings and relevant news. Your questions are welcome: some may be answered in sites to which we provide links. As a researcher with a password, in time you will have access to a window display of restricted data on biobanked samples that accumulates over time, becoming a valulable resource for collaborative translational research.
